How Online Barber Battles Work

How Online Barber Battles Work

In a PBA online barber battle, you complete the required competition work remotely and submit it for judging. You can compete from your own location while facing barbers elsewhere. Each event sets the category, submission requirements and format that determine how the competition runs.

Choose the right battle

Read the event page before entering. Look for the category, who can compete, the entry fee, deadline, judging criteria and advertised prize. Make sure the format works with your schedule and that you can produce the required work and proof.

PBA competitor registration establishes your official league status. Entering a particular tournament or matchup is a separate step, and an event may have its own fee. An active membership does not automatically place you into every battle.

Understand the format

An online battle can use several formats. The event announcement tells you which one applies.

  • A 1v1 matchup puts two competitors against each other for a judged result.
  • A bracket tournament moves qualifying competitors through successive matchups toward a final.
  • A Survivor tournament evaluates a field through elimination rounds until the remaining competitors reach the final stage.
  • A single-submission category asks competitors to enter work for one judged competition rather than prepare a new entry for every round.

For a tournament with multiple rounds, check whether each round requires new work or a new theme. Also check whether any final stage will take place live. The word online does not replace the event's full schedule.

Prepare the cut and capture the proof

Required materials may include before photographs, a time-lapse recording and after photographs or video. Follow the specific instructions for your event, including any time limit, required angles, file format and restrictions on enhancements or editing.

Set up the camera before starting. Make sure the work the judges need to see stays visible, your device has enough power and storage, and the lighting lets them assess the finished result. Good preparation helps you avoid discovering a missing recording after the cut is complete.

Submit the complete entry

Use the submission method provided by PBA for that event. Include the required files and identify your competitor handle clearly. If you are submitting through a shared folder, check that PBA can open the link and view every required file.

Submit ahead of the deadline so you have time to resolve an upload or access problem. Late or incomplete entries are handled under the event rules. A strong haircut still needs a complete submission to be evaluated properly.

Judging determines the result

PBA currently uses SHARP Scoring for its online and live battles. Judges assess entries against the criteria announced for the competition. Read that rubric before planning your cut so you understand what the category rewards.

Comments and reactions can build interest around a matchup. The official result follows the event's judging and competition rules.

Follow advancement and record updates

After results are announced, check whether you advance and what the next round requires. Verified sanctioned results are credited to official records according to the format's rules. A bye, forfeit or Survivor advancement should not be assumed to create the same win and loss entries as a completed 1v1.

If you find a record error, contact PBA with your handle, the event, the matchup and supporting information. Use the event's stated review process for a judging concern.
